NCAA Power Rankings, Week 3

It’s taken me awhile to build up to writing about college football since I have to deal with the stomach-churning Saturdays that make up Michigan’s rebuilding year. But I think I am learning to cope. Sam McGuffie may have something to do with it.

But there is a lot more going on in college football.

So here's my take:

TEAM
1. USC (2-0)	Dominated Ohio St. Granted they didn’t have Beanie Wells, but it was a pretty complete performance. We’ll see if they can avoid a slip-up.
2. Oklahoma (3-0)	Bradford is looking really good and with Stoops running they show they can beat any team. But the Big 12 is a scary conference to get through.
3. Missouri (3-0)	They have just been lights out so far this season. Chase might be the best all-around QB in the nation and Maclin is just a sick athlete.
4. Georgia (3-0)	I was against moving them down after they struggled to put away Georgia Southern, but after a sloppy game against S. Carolina, they just don’t look like the class of the nation.
5. Florida (2-0)	Always gonna be a tough team to play, but they struggled through the first half at Miami, and a better team won’t let them stay in the game.
6. LSU (2-0)	I’ve never seen defending national champions get talked about less. This is a solid team with a brutal D to play against. They could repeat.
7. Wisconsin (3-0)	At least one Big Ten team can stay in the top ten. They have always had a scary defense, and with PJ Hill grinding it out, they are tough to contain.
8. Alabama (3-0)	It started with a very good Week 1 win and the Tide has kept rolling. Julio is going to be a great college WR.
9. Texas Tech (3-0)	Yes, this is the best team in Texas. No, I am not kidding. Crabtree and Harrell are going to rack up points every single week.
10. South Florida (3-0)	Called the upset last week and I will toot my horn for it. This team just never seems to be out of games. I love watching them.
11. Texas (2-0)		Second best team in the state, but I am not a Colt believer. Maybe if he showed that he’s learned to not roll right and get drilled on every pass.
12. Ohio St. (2-1)		Ok, they got embarrassed. Like, really embarrassed, but they didn’t have Beanie who might be the nations best rusher. With him, they can play.
13. Penn St (3-0)		It’s not Big Ten favoritism, 166 points in three weeks, are you kidding me!? This team can score the football, hands down.
14. Auburn (3-0)		Apparently the Tigers are too focused on the MLB playoff race, because they decided to honor it by winning a game 3-2. Brutal.
15. Oregon (3-0)		Purdue is a tougher team than people give them credit for. Oregon showed guts grinding that sucker out. They have some talent.
16. East Carolina (3-0)		The dream season almost ended at the hands off…Tulane!? They escaped, but they might not again. Still love this team though.
17. BYU (3-0)		I wasn’t really a believer until they absolutely throttled a strong UCLA defense. Maybe this team can play with the big boys this year.
18. Utah (3-0)		People forget that this team won 9 games and a bowl last year. They are not a joke and Johnson is a very dynamic player at QB.
19. Kansas (2-1)		Can’t really fault them for losing to South Florida, which is a very strong team. Kansas can play and they’ll make some Big 12 noise.
20. Clemson (2-1)		Yeah, they stumbled in game 1, but against solid competition. Spiller and Davis are a legit runningback duo, no matter what analysts say.
21. Wake Forest (2-1)		They never seem to make it look really good, but they keep finding ways to win. That’s a very good sign when the games start to matter more.
22. West Virginia (1-1)		This is what happens to the team Cinderella beats, people forget about them. With White and Devine, these guys are never out of it.
23. Florida State (2-0)		Let’s keep ourselves in check, this is not the rebirth of the program just yet. They are getting better, but they still have some ground to make up.
24. TCU (3-0)		Competition stepped up a level with Stanford and TCU put them down easily. This team can play a little bit and is about to make some noise.
25. Vanderbilt (3-0)		Should have gotten more respect for beating South Carolina. They are not a doormat anymore and when they beat Mississippi by more than Auburn did, it might prove that.
Teams Just Out		Illinois, Arizona State, Fresno State, Oklahoma State
